mirrorful

The world has always had stories.
Most of them go untold.

The idea

A mirror doesn't invent what it shows. It takes what's already there — the light, the form, the history — and gives it back to you, transformed by the act of reflection. That's what we want Mirrorful to do with place.

The café on the corner has been there since 1947. The park across the street was a battlefield two centuries before that. The bridge you cross every morning was once a marvel of engineering that made the front page of every newspaper in the city. None of that is visible. But it's there, waiting.

Mirrorful surfaces these layers — adapting to how fast you're moving, how deep into history you want to go, and what kinds of stories matter to you. Walking through a neighborhood unlocks something different than driving through it. The experience reflects the moment you're in.

The knowledge graph

Generated once, served forever

Every story Mirrorful creates is stored in a spatial-temporal index — a knowledge graph layered over the real world. When the next explorer arrives at the same spot, the story is already waiting.

Indexed by location, time, and interest

Stories are keyed to H3 hexagonal cells at three zoom levels — walking scale, cycling scale, driving scale — and tagged by historical period and interest category.

Fog of war

As users explore, the map lights up — a global fog of war showing which corners of the world Mirrorful has illuminated. Dense cities glow bright. Remote places wait in the dark.

Personal reflection

Every signed-in user has their own map — the places they've heard stories about, the eras they've explored, the distance they've covered with Mirrorful as their guide.
